    FOUNTAINVIEW ACADEMY
  • Due to the Government of British Columbia legislation, Fountainview Academy requires that all students attending have medical insurance coverage.

As of January 1, 2020, International students with a study permit valid for a period of six or more months are required to apply for the Medical Services Plan (B.C.’s health-care coverage) as soon as they arrive in British Columbia and have the coverage continue as long as the student will be studying in British Columbia.

Before health-care coverage begins, there is a waiting period consisting of the balance of the month that residency is established, plus two months. The cost of the Medical Services Plan and the private insurance needed for the initial 3 month waiting period are under the Insurance fees on the Tuition and Fees schedule. The total is $925 CAD per year and is invoiced over 10 months.

  • TRAVEL INSURANCE

  • Travel Insurance

If Fountainview Academy offers any official school international trips - such as a senior class trip or an all-school overseas trip, etc. travel insurance will be purchased to cover students and those fees will be included in the fundraising amounts.

Fountainview Academy provides free transportation to and from the Seattle International Airport (SEA), Abbotsford International Airport (YXX), and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) at the beginning and end of each break, including summer break. Fountainview Academy does not provide any travel insurance coverage for such trips when students travel to/from any of the above-mentioned airports.

Some students who are not from the USA sometimes choose to visit friends or family in the USA for a weekend or a school break. You should keep in mind that if you do not have insurance that covers your child while they are in the USA, then they would not have insurance for that type of trip, because it is not covered by Fountainview Academy either.
