  • Important notice to all prospective coaches:

    • Coaches will be placed with teams accordingly, based on experience and compatibility.

     

    • Parents and Coaches/Team Officials will be required to recertify their Respect in Sport every four seasons. Please be aware of your currect RIS status as it must be current to coach during this season. If you are new or recertifying, please complete the Respect in Sport (RIS) - Coach, from the link provided. https://ha.respectgroupinc.com/

     

    • ALL BROOKS MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATION COACHES AND MANAGERS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A CURRENT CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (CRC). Please download the form off of the BMHA website and have a it returned before September 13, 2019. 

     

    • Each Team will consist of; 1 Head Coach / 2 Assistant Coaches and 1 Goalie Coach, (providing they have completed the required certification or equivalent.) or 1 Head Coach and 3 Assistant Coaches for a Maximum total of 4 Coaching Staff members only. A manager cannot coach or be on the bench during games. (Some exceptions may apply for the Intro levels and non CAHL coaches.)

     

    • BMHA Coaches will only be permitted to be on the staffs of only two teams as either a Head Coach and Assistant Coach on two separate teams or Assistant Coach on two separate teams as is needed. Individuals will not be able to coach on more than 2 teams. (Exceptions may be given for some Head Coaches also wanting to Head Coach a non-competitive team, providing they submit a request in writing to the Coach Selection Committee.)

     

    • All Coaches will provide the necessary documentation to Brooks Minor Hockey Association in order to be considered as a coach. Coaches are not permitted to add their own coaches to any team without approval of Brooks Minor Hockey Association.

     

    • BMHA Coaches will be required to attend a minimum of two development sessions during the hockey season. All courses are reimbursed by Brooks Minor Hockey Association.

    • Local Minor Hockey Associations and Club Teams must ensure by November 15th that all Teams meet the requirements as outlined in the chart. Any Team that does not meet the requirements outlined within the Hockey Alberta regulations is not an eligible team and is not able to participate in sanctioned games.

     

    • Once the certification deadline passes, any team that does not meet the required certifications for their Team Officials will be notified that they are ineligible to participate until they have obtained the proper certifications.

     

    • It is highly recommended that all Local Minor Hockey Associations ensure Assistant Coaches have completed the same course(s) as outlined in the chart.  https://www.hockeyalberta.ca/coaches/coaching-requirements/

     

    • Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP) - All Hockey Alberta teams must have one (1) person registered to their team that has completed the Hockey Canada Safety Program and be at all games. (Head Coach Preferred) https://www.hockeyalberta.ca/coaches/clinic-information/safety/

    I agree to follow Brooks Minor Hockey Mandate, Mission Statement  and Core Values, as well as the Bylaws, Regulations, and Policy as set out by the Brooks Minor Hockey Association (BMHA), Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada.

    I hereby authorize Brooks Minor Hockey Association to verify my credentials, qualifications and character in order to meet their coaching requirements.

    I agree the information on this application can be shared with the Brooks Minor Hockey Association coach selection committee.

    The Coaches Selection Committee will determine the final decision for approval of the coaching applicant.
