  • Camp Living Water is aimed specifically working with indigenous children in western Canada in a summer camp environment for week-long increments. Therefore, in general, we receive a mature group of students and volunteers to be “missionaries and volunteers”, of various ages. It is an exciting time and stimulating environment as people come from around the globe, with a variety of experience and gifts, to learn together and seek God.  Your role is to serve this ministry and vision. You are very important for the camp to happen, and your work is a valued and serious responsibility. Being a volunteer at Camp Living Water is a privilege. It is a great opportunity to serve, learn and experience new things with God. We do require respectful and mature attitudes from volunteers. It is also important to understand that the teaching and ministering to Campers will happen based on your comfort level, and guidance will be available if you need it. This is an amazing opportunity to see your faith grow, and have the chance to reach the First Peoples of Canada for Christ Jesus.

  • Practical/Logistics 1. Most weeks will require 5 days a week and approximately 12 hours of work a day as a volunteer. Mondays are registration and arrival time. We do set aside most Saturdays for your personal time if you plan to stay for longer than a week. On Sunday mornings, we generally go out to partner churches and share about the ministry at Camp Living Water. 2.Devotional meetings and daily worship times are required for all volunteers unless they are busy with an assigned job (Breakfast Prep) or cleared by the Director. 3. It is important to understand that you are there as a volunteer serving the ministry, Be respectful and considerate in the personal relationships you develop there, in behaviour, and in dressing attire, maintain respect and modesty according to the atmosphere of this mission. 4. We are all responsible to care for the property, space and equipment at the camp, whether it be something in your area of work or not. We enjoy a clean, tidy and peaceful atmosphere, which is only possible if all volunteers and campers make effort to keep this so.

  • Media/Alcohol Fast 1. No non-prescribed Drugs and Alcohol.  2. Media Fast. No TV, movies, video games during the camp period. The purpose of this is so that we can be more focused and prepared for the spiritual battle we are entering. Utilize this time to prayer and meditate on scripture. 3. Moderate and considerate use of cellphones, social media etc. To better our focus on the mission and youth in our care.

  •  Spiritual In addition to team prayer times, commit yourself daily to privately seeking the Lord through prayer and study of his word.
  •  Attitude 1. Submit to the leadership. Feel free to talk to them whenever you need to, about personal or practical aspects. Submission includes being loyal, positive and teachable. 2. Be willing to do anything required for the well being of the camp. Suggestions are welcome, whilst always accepting and supporting a leaders decision. 3. Maintain an optimistic and positive attitude. Pessimism kills faith and hurts team morale. “Encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11) 4. Assume the best in each other, consider the needs of others before your own (i.e. don’t fight for the best room, best bed, etc.), practice sacrificial love and forgive easily. Consider Christ"s example on this (Philippians 2: 3-8; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7).  5. Push yourself. Be bold and courageous. Step outside of your comfort zone. 6. Be humble and teachable, willing to take responsibility for mistakes and faults. Be quick to apologize. Nobody is perfect, and serving the camp is a great opportunity to grow.  7. Additionally, it"s natural to form friendships within the overall group. That being said, overall unity of the team is of utmost importance so strive to avoid “cliques” and fight to maintain unity for the group at large.
