On May 15th, the Board of Directors of Associated Hebrew Schools made the sad and difficult decision to sell its Atkinson building, the current location of the Kamin branch. The decision was made after numerous years of trying to reverse the trend of decreasing enrolment in the north, which is the largest contributor to the school requiring to take on approximately $2 million in debt per year.
The Board of Directors has stated its preference for finding a new home in York Region for the Kamin Branch. In the event that a new home in York Region is not found, the Board has identified that the Finch location (the current location of Associated Hebrew School’s Danilack Middle School) can accommodate all Kamin students.
Associated Hebrew Schools has embarked on a 90- to 120-day process to consult its stakeholder community and ensure all needs are identified and communicated to the Board as they consider the options. This survey is one of several information gathering methods being used and has been sent to all parents who have at least one child enrolled at Kamin for the 2017/18 school year.
Please take a few minutes to complete the following survey. Please note that this survey is anonymous. A summary report of this survey with aggregate information will be provided to the Board and will not attribute information to any individuals. We ask that you only complete a single survey per household.
It is important to note that as of this moment, NO decisions have been made about the future location of the Kamin branch. The ideas being put forth for feedback have yet to be confirmed as available, or financially or logistically viable options.
