  • High River Canada 150 Band Signup

    For Individuals
  • It is my pleasure to invite you to participate in the Canada Day Celebrations in High River on July 1, 2017.  This, being Canada's 150th birthday, is a great year for big things.  "O Canada" will be performed at this celebration, but we wanted to open the opportunity to do so to all musicians in High River.  Therefore, we are introducing the "High River Canada 150 Band", and are inviting you to participate with us.

We have an arranged version of "O Canada" that would permit all musicians to play regardless of experience or ability, and still play together seemlessly.  We also have a second piece to perform titled "River Rendezvous", which is likewise arranged.  Therefore, whether you are a beginner, returning musician, or skilled, you can participate enjoyably in this group.

Please register using this form.  Pre-registration will be concluded by May 3, and the full schedule and resources will be shared shortly thereafter.  Thank you for joining us!

  • We need to know your experience and ability to make sure we give you the correct sheet music.  Please indicate your primary and secondary instruments, your preferred level of music, and the number of years of experience on that instrument so we know what music to assign to you.  Please note that this will be a Winds and Percussion ensemble this year, and that likely the only string instrument will be a String Bass.

Level 1 musicians will be asked to play largely within one octave, sometimes as much as a 9th, and with no more complicated rhythms than eighth-notes.

Level 2 musicians will be asked to play triplets, some embouchure acrobatics that aren't too rhythmically complex, and a range of at least an octave and a half.

Level 3 musicians will be asked to play some more complicated rhythms and harmonies across a large range.
