Lead recreation activities in various program rooms and supervise groups of children. Be actively involved with programs and provide a safe environment for our clients to participate. This program operates Monday to Friday in the evening throughout the school year September to June. On PD Days and most holiday breaks, we offer a children's day camp programs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. instead of evening programs.
Monday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. starting September 24, 2018.
Activities included but are not limited to:
Computer Club (video game development, social media safety, and usage, digital photography)
Crafts (knitting, crochet, traditional arts, and craft activities)
Music Lessons (piano, guitar, drumming)
Fitness (dance, gymnastics – mat tumbling, yoga)
Aquatic Programs (Red Cross Swim Lessons, drop-in swim program)
Youth Zone offers a safe space for youth in Grades 9 to 12 to socialize with peers and learn new skills. This program operates throughout the school year Monday to Friday. Volunteers assist staff with leading activities ranging from sports, arts, music, and digital media. Volunteers must be 18+ years old with a valid police vulnerable sector check. Starting September 24, 2018.
M.A.P. Tutor / Mentor (My Action Plan to Education)
Volunteers assist children and/or youth with homework, play education board games, and provide positive mentoring.
Volunteers assist with serving meals and wash dishes and trays after school for children and youth during the school year from September to mid-June. This program operates Monday to Friday only. Volunteers are needed from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Assist with various special events organized by BGCL. Duties vary from event to event. Duties range from leading games and activity stations to assisting with set-up and clean-up. From time to time, there are also opportunities to help supervise groups of children and/or youth with staff on out trips such as to Budweiser Gardens or the Grand Theatre.

After School Program (A.S.P.) Assistants/Tutors
The After School Program operates in various off-site locations in London. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to at least 1 shift per week to help staff members supervise and lead fun activities for children and youth registered in the program.
You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the sites. A.S.P. aims to help children and youth get active, develop healthy eating habits, gain confidence and do better in school, which helps to decrease childhood obesity and youth conflict.
Locations & Shifts Available:
370 Pond Mills Rd. (townhouses near Commissioners Rd.) - Monday to Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. starting September 4, 2018.
John Paul II Secondary School (1300 Oxford Street East) - Tuesday to Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. starting September 24, 2018.
Seniors Program (Horton Street Seniors Centre)
Volunteers ride on one of our shuttles with staff drivers around the city to pick up or drop off senior members of the Horton Street Senior Centre. You assist with supervision of our clients on the shuttles and have the opportunity to socialize with clients. Our senior members are adults who are 55+ years old. Volunteer shifts are available throughout the year, January to December. You must be available for a minimum of one 4-hour shift per week. Two shifts are available throughout the year, Monday to Friday - 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Volunteers are asked to arrive 5-10 minutes early in order to sign in and catch the shuttle on time
Volunteers work independently around the facility doing light cleaning duties such dusting, snow shoveling, lawn maintenance, and they also assist with event set-up and tear down. Opportunities are available throughout the year between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Flexible shifts are available during this period.
Various administration tasks such as front desk greeter, organizing files, preparing mail outs, and data inputting are available. Volunteers would need to be available for 2-3 hour shifts weekly for a minimum of 6 months. Most shifts are during the week from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. throughout the year.
